Mission Statement

Hy ‘N’ Hancement Consulting Inc. is the company that provides Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB Canada), a Behavioural Management Intervention Model. Our mission is to provide working strategies for the caregiver (frontline, support staff, foster parents, etc…) that provide support to individuals that at times may experience challenging behaviours and difficulties and at times may express those behaviours in a risky and unsafe manner. We aim to teach early signs of recognition of behaviours; by educating caregivers on how to manage in a crisis situation effectively and efficiently by providing appropriate strategies from a least intrusive and least restrictive manner.  We take great pride in making sure we provide an approach that respects the dignity and safety of the person in need as well as the caregivers.

Hy ‘N’ Hancement Consulting Inc. strives to provide a high level of quality assurance and due diligence to every agency we support. Throughout the years of providing our behavioural management intervention program to a variety of diverse social service settings, we have adapted our program based on the mandates given by the governing Ministry.  We have allowed many of the agencies that we support to modify the verbal component of our program to allow them to adapt spiritual, religious and cultural practices. We also follow the AODA standards when providing training to all programs.

How can we help...

We are a family-owned Crisis Intervention Program located in Ontario, Canada. We are passionately committed to delivering exceptional training through our experienced trainers. Since 2000, we have proudly held approval from the Ministry of Children and Community Services, setting a standard of excellence in our field.

Our program represents a unique approach to Behavioural Management Intervention (crisis intervention), distinguished by our Trauma-Informed philosophy. We empower agencies to integrate cultural and spiritual components into the Orientation Program and Continuing Education of our UMAB Programs, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.

UMAB is more than just a "Physical Restraint Program"; it is a comprehensive system incorporating verbal de-escalation techniques and self-awareness to understand better our impact on the individuals we support. Our adaptable Crisis Intervention Program can be integrated with various therapeutic modalities within the Human Service Industry.

The UMAB Program can be tailored to meet your agency's needs, offering 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day models. Please inquire for more information! Ask us about our Pilot Project (blended training options) and Operation School Board.

Our operations manager provides 24/7 support to Agencies in the UMAB program. We're here for you whether you need consultation, guidance, or in-person help. Your challenges are our priority, and we are committed to providing the assistance your Agency needs.
